Position

Juniorprofessor for Algebra and Number Theory. I am associated with the Algebraic Geometry Chair at the Mathematical Institute of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

Research interests

My main interests lie in algebraic geometry and arithmetic geometry.

In particular, I do research on

  • Tate-Shafarevich groups of abelian varieties
  • Geometry and arithmetic of elliptic surfaces and K3 surfaces
  • Geometry of elliptic threefolds
  • Cohomology of singular varieties and their Hodge structures
  • Explicit methods to determine zeta functions
  • Arithmetic mirror symmetry

Teaching

During the Sommersemester 2010 I teach a two hour course on Algebraic Surfaces. More (practical) information will follow soon. Topics include: Basic properties of algebraic surfaces, Enriques classification of algebraic surfaces, elliptic surfaces and K3 surfaces.

During the Wintersemester 2009/2010 I teach Algebraic Geometry I. Lectures are on

  • Monday 11:15-12:45 in 3.006 (RUD25)
  • Wednesday 9:15-10:45 in 0311 (RUD26).
The lectures start on Wednesday October, 14.

Nicola Tarasca is organizing problem sessions on Monday 13:15-14:45 in 3.007 (RUD25). The sessions start on October, 19.

More information on this course can be found here.

Furthermore, I organize or participate in the following seminars:
