I work for the Institut für Mathematik of the Humboldt University of Berlin in Adlershof, Berlin, Germany. My current interests are in the mathematical modelling and simulation of thin liquid coatings in the presence of surface tension gradients and compositional changes due to evaporation, and in solid films driven by surface diffusion.
Most of my work is related to a project called “Modelling, asymptotic analysis and numerical simulation of thin film nanostructures on crystal surfaces”. This is supported by the “MATHEON” DFG Research Center, of which I am a member. (→ More about my current and former research.)
Complete list of publications.
My research to date has involved the numerical and theoretical investigation of fluid flows, and in particular, thin film flows. In 2000 I completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware, studying the flow of thin coatings. Before that, I completed a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematical and Computing Science at the University of Adelaide, subsequently working there as a research officer. This has been applied to modelling of shallow gulfs and marine oil spills in shallow gulfs, and defects in industrial coatings.
There's more about me over here now.
